Entryway Evolution

The entryway is the workhorse of our house. We live in a four-seasons climate with kids and pets who spend a lot of time outside and without a real system it looks like this every time we leave the house:

We’ve considered wallpaper for the entry but I don’t love how it flows into the living & dining room— if it were a more contained space I’d go for it. I had been thinking some type of paneling, and eventually landed on paneling with a shaker-style peg rail. I collected inspiration on Pinterest, and this is where we’re headed:

I also found some images of specific paneling styles that I like. There are A LOT of options (beadboard, shiplap, tongue in groove, etc) and it helps to clarify what you do and don’t like.

I’m leaning towards painting the paneling but potentially doing a natural wood shelf above. Can’t wait for this all to come together!
